How to Hack Construction Signs

hack-construction-sign

The other day we posted this picture of a road sign which read “You’ll Never Get to Work on Time! HA! HA!” I thought it was a funny picture, but
also wonder if it was real… or photoshopped?

Well, it looks like it could be the real thing as a tutorial on how to change the text on a construction sign is on the loose.

Quick start instructions:

“It will ask you for a password. Try “DOTS”, the default password.

In all likelihood, the crew will not have changed it. However if they did, never fear. Hold “Control” and “Shift” and while holding, enter “DIPY”. This will reset the sign and reset the password to “DOTS” in the process. You’re in”

:) WARNING YOU SHOULD NEVER TAMPER WITH THESE SIGNS :)

Human Mole Dies

human-mole

Gordon Stewart, a 74 year old man who lives in Broughton, Bucks, UK was found dead within a labyrinth of tunnels of trash that he created within his own home.  He collected the trash over a 10 year period of time… boxes, bags, furniture and other junk filled his two story home.  Neighbors hadn’t seen him for a few days and decided to contact police.  When police arrived the smell was so bad they had to have a special team with breathing apparatus to get the body out.  Full story can be found at the Sun: Human mole Gorden Stewart dies of thirst…lost in his own tunnel of trash.

8 Sampsonia Way in Pittsburgh

sampson-wayEver wonder what’s on 8 Sampsonia Way, in Pittsburgh, PA?  The Google Street View truck went by and snapped this shot.

If for some reason, they take it down in the future, here’s what they took a picture of…

UPDATE: When I first saw this I thought it was a random picture Google happened to snap, but it appears the whole thing was planned. Similar pictures like the one above can be found on the official Street With a View Web Site.

On May 3rd 2008, artists Robin Hewlett and Ben Kinsley invited the Google Inc. Street View team and residents of Pittsburgh’s Northside to collaborate on a series of tableaux along Sampsonia Way. Neighbors, and other participants from around the city, staged scenes ranging from a parade and a marathon, to a garage band practice, a seventeenth century sword fight, a heroic rescue and much more…

But… perhaps there are even earlier tweets before this?  Anyone know? :)
